200 Workshops and 2,000 People

Between 2023 and 2026, nearly 200 workshops based on working with Baltic amber took place in Gdańsk, most of them at the Amber Museum, at the Dolna Brama Center, at the Amberif trade fair and Gdańsk Jewellery Week, within the University of the Third Age of the University of Gdańsk, in senior clubs and in schools. More than 2,000 people took part. Each of them made a Baltic amber pendant by hand. Several dozen of them did not stop at a single session and wanted to develop their practical skills further.

Practitioners

The workshops took place at the Amber Museum in Gdańsk and covered learning to work with Baltic amber, including hand processing, grinding, polishing, surface finishing, joining elements, and making a pendant and a bracelet or necklace. The workshops were led by Robert Pytlos, amber coordinator for the Mayor of Gdańsk and a journeyman amber craftsman. At the opening ceremony on June 27, several dozen workshop participants received the title of practitioner of working with Baltic amber.
