Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026: “Bursztynowy Reset Głowy” Workshops (Amber Mind Reset)!

Join the workshop and make a piece of amber work. We guarantee a break from everyday duties and an introduction to the basic methods of hand-working Baltic amber, which contains succinic acid, setting it apart from about a hundred other fossil resins.

A positive effect

Although it is an acid, it has a positive effect on people: it stimulates, regulates, disinfects and detoxifies. Baltic amber has a distinctive scent and is a source of energy. When rubbed with the hand, it smells similar to incense and attracts tiny bits of dry grass and scraps of paper. In this way it becomes electrically charged negatively, yet “positively” and kindly for humans.

An amulet against all evil

No two ambers are alike. Each is unique and of exceptional beauty, with a color that changes over the years. For this reason Baltic amber has been a precious jewelry material for centuries, and not without reason it is called a noble resin. People attribute healing and magical properties to it. They call it the “stone of life,” an amulet that heals, helps and protects.

Workshops with a journeyman and an official

The workshops were designed and will be led by Robert Pytlos, amber coordinator at the Office of the Mayor of Gdańsk, journeyman amber craftsman, Ambassador of Pomeranian Crafts, and author of the entries on amber and amber craft in the Gdańsk Encyclopedia.

In Venice and Amsterdam, with women footballers and an astronaut

Over the last few years the “Bursztynowy Reset Głowy” (Amber Mind Reset) workshops have become very popular, not only at the Amber Museum in Gdańsk. Robert Pytlos also led workshops during Minerals Topacz 2025, Venice Design Week 2025, Venice Fashion Week 2025 and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Among those who took part in his workshops were Dr. Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, the Polish women's national football team and Aneta Rygielska, women's boxing world vice-champion.

“Bursztynowy Reset Głowy” at the Amber Museum

The culmination of this year's edition of the workshops is an exhibition of the participants' works at the Amber Museum. In June 2026, at the opening ceremony, nearly one hundred people received the title of practitioner of working with Baltic amber, confirmed by the Amber Museum and the Pomeranian Chamber of Crafts of Small and Medium Enterprises. The exhibition can still be seen at the museum as part of the program of events accompanying Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026.

Where did the idea come from?

Working with Baltic amber affects people in an extraordinary way. It requires focus, patience and precision. “Many participants say after the class that those few hours were a form of calm and rest. That is exactly where the word ‘reset’ comes from,” says the author of the workshops.

Feel this magic, touch our cultural heritage and take part in the workshops. You are warmly invited!
