Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026: We Will Break the Polish Record in Amber Grinding!
350/350! The list for the Polish amber grinding record attempt is officially closed. All places are taken!
On October 3, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., during Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026 at AMBEREXPO in Gdańsk, the Polish record in amber grinding will be broken.
A Natural Nugget, Three Sandpapers and Polishing Paste
Each participant will receive a raw amber nugget with a hole, a set of sandpapers of increasing grit, a felt cloth and polishing paste, as well as containers with water and paraffin, to finish a necklace on a cord that they make themselves. The record requires that work begins synchronously and continues for the set time. At the end, participants will receive commemorative certificates, and a representative of the Records Bureau will officially announce the new Polish record in simultaneous grinding of Baltic amber!

152 People
The current official record is 152 people, set on September 5, 2025, during Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2025. The event at AMBEREXPO was attended by, among others, Lidia Popiel, Amber Ambassador, representatives of the city authorities, councilors, designers and craftspeople, Gdańsk patrician women, merchants, seniors and young people from the Zespół Szkół Kreowania Wizerunku (Image Creation School Complex). The record improved on an earlier, unofficial result of 95 people, set by members of the “Aktywny Senior” (Active Senior) association on March 21, 2025, in Gdańsk, on the first day of Amberif Spring 2025, the world’s largest amber and jewelry fair.

The initiative is coordinated by Robert Pytlos from the Office of the Mayor of Gdańsk, and the organizers are Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie (Gdańsk International Fair) and the Union of Maritime Cities and Municipalities.
