Work by Marcin Tymiński: fan-shaped layers of ground polymer in grays and shades of amber with a faceted dark stone

Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026: Marcin Tymiński “Historie, które wydarzyły się naprawdę” (Stories That Really Happened)

This is a masterful exhibition that touches on what is universal in human experience. At the same time, it remains a personal record of the artist’s path, documenting his professional, mental and emotional development. At the opening, Marcin Tymiński will be presented with the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis.

You will see remarkable objects: necklaces, brooches, bracelets, rings and more, created under the influence of personal experiences, strong feelings and acute emotions that demanded to be depicted and, in this way, worked through.

Original techniques of processing, grinding and coloring

For over a decade the artist has worked with polymer, developing his own recipes for this material and his own techniques of working with it. Every piece that leaves the studio is unique, impossible to reproduce both because of the properties of the materials and because of the particular state of mind that accompanied the artist at the moment of creation.

Small sculptural form in contemporary art

This varied yet very distinctive body of work is based on modern, geometric forms and abstract motifs referring to the natural world. Tymiński combines polymers with Baltic, Dominican and Mexican amber as well as silver and gold, and in his latest works he also uses diamonds. The result is miniature sculptures that carry not only a material, aesthetic object but also a meaning, an idea.

A fascination with Baltic amber

Marcin Tymiński has been fascinated by Baltic amber for many years and constantly wants to explore it and create exceptional jewelry with it. The facets and surfaces of his works play with light in a delightful way: they scatter, radiate, gather, sparkle... In his hands amber takes on a modern form and is disenchanted.
