Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026: Marcin Tymiński – “Historie, które wydarzyły się naprawdę” (Stories That Really Happened)!
At this exhibition you will see brooches, necklaces and other objects that came about spontaneously, under the influence of feelings that demanded to be named and worked through. Tymiński combines polymer with Baltic, Dominican and Mexican amber, and in his latest works also reaches for diamonds, creating miniature sculptures with a deep emotional charge.
This is an exhibition that touches on what is universal in human experience, while remaining an intimate record of the artist's personal journey, a documentation of his professional and emotional development that should not be missed.
His Own Grinding and Coloring Techniques, the Most Personal Experiences
The artist, who has worked with polymer for more than a decade and developed his own grinding and coloring techniques, turns his most personal experiences into jewelry: from desire, love and friendship, through imprisonment, awakening and tears, to longing, sadness, death and disappointment. Each piece is unique, impossible to repeat both because of the properties of the materials and the exceptional state of mind the artist was in at the moment of creation.

One of the Most Decorated
The artist has designed and made jewelry for almost 30 years. He is one of the most decorated goldsmiths in Poland, was for many years president of the Association of Goldsmithing Form Makers, has taken part in international exhibitions and fairs, and has won dozens of jewelry competitions. He twice won the Grand Prix, the Gdańsk Mayor's Award, in the international Amber Jewelry Design Competition Amberif Design Award (2017, 2020). His works can be seen in prestigious museums and galleries in Gdańsk, New York, Munich, Barcelona, London and Paris.
A Fascination with Baltic Amber
For many years he has been fascinated by Baltic amber and wants to create only perfect, above-average jewelry with it. The facets and surfaces of his works direct and scatter light. In his hands amber takes on a modern form and is disenchanted…

In the Contemporary Art Current
Tymiński places himself in the contemporary art current. In his varied but highly distinctive work one finds modern, geometric forms and abstract motifs referring to the natural world. The artist developed his own method of cutting polymer, giving it noble forms. He combines polymers with Baltic amber, diamonds, silver and gold in a refined way.

The exhibition curator is Lidia Popiel.
