Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026: Silence Will Speak in the Language of Art Jewelry

On October 2-4, 2026, as part of Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2026, the public will have a chance to see one of the most interesting international presentations of contemporary art jewelry. At the center of the event will be the post-competition exhibition “PREZENTACJE 2026 – CISZA” (PRESENTATIONS 2026 – SILENCE), the result of the 22nd International Goldsmithing Art Competition PREZENTACJE 2026, organized by the Association of Goldsmithing Form Creators (STFZ) and Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie SA.

It is a unique opportunity to see how artists from around the world interpret one of the most ambiguous and, at the same time, most relevant experiences of our time: silence.

Silence does not always mean silence...

The competition organizers invited artists to reflect on the meaning of silence in a world full of messages, sounds and constant stimulation. As the idea of the competition puts it: “In a world that speaks too loudly, too fast and too much, silence becomes a choice. An escape from the flood of stimuli. A space where you can finally hear yourself. A pause between words. A breath. A look inward.”

At the same time, the organizers pointed out that silence does not always mean comfort. It can be a space for reflection, a form of focus, an experience of loss, tension and uncertainty, the weight of unspoken words, the silence present in human relationships, an absence that hurts, and even something unsettling and oppressive.

An international competition with a wide reach

Jewelry, as an intimate form of art worn on the body, became for the competition's participants a medium for expressing all these emotions and meanings. This year's edition of PREZENTACJE drew great interest from the artistic community. The competition received 137 works from 20 countries. From all the submissions, the jury selected 44 pieces that make up the main exhibition.

The selected works do not offer a single interpretation of the theme. On the contrary, they form a multi-voiced story about silence, showing its many aspects, from contemplation and focus to anxiety, loneliness and lack of communication.

Competition jury

The selection of works was decided by a jury made up of respected figures from the worlds of jewelry, art and museums:

  • Jury chair: Paweł Kaczyński, artist, jewelry designer, master goldsmith
  • Renata Adamowicz, cultural manager, museum curator, head of the Amber Museum in Gdańsk
  • Agata Danielak-Kujda, designer, artist, professor at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław
  • Agata Nartowska, artist, designer, lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław
  • Monika Szpatowicz, promoter of contemporary goldsmithing and art jewelry, curator of the AMBERIF fair competitions

The exhibition curators are Jolanta Gazda and Weronika Majewska, who are responsible for the concept and preparation of the project.
